A collection of Fender Jazzmaster guitars added to ANOTHERGUITAR.co.uk in the last week. Fender introduced the Jazzmaster in 1958 (*), as the name implies, it was originally intended to appeal to the Jazz musician – a group who had at that time mostly ignored Fender’s offerings. Fender were initially surprised how far reaching an appeal their new guitar had in musical genres it was not intended for. In the 1960’s it was the most popular instrument for the surf music bands. It went on to become the favoured guitar of many new wave musicians in the 70’s and continued in through the 80’s and 90’s in the hands of alternative and indie rock bands.
A list of musicians who have played the Jazzmaster reads like a who’s who of legendary guitarists. Here’s just a few: Elvis Costello, Kevin Shields and Bilinda Butcher (My Bloody Valentine), Jonny Buckland (Coldplay), Aaron North (Nine Inch Nails), Robert Smith (The Cure) … it really does just go on and on.
Do some homework and check NEW Jazzmaster prices – Before spending hundreds, possibly thousands, on a preowned Fender guitar we recommend checking NEW prices with our partners at Gear4Music with one of the UK’s largest ranges of Fender guitars
