This is a company with a long and colourful history in the manufacture of guitars. It all started wayback in 1908 with a Japanese sheet music and instrument distributor called Hoshino Gakki. We have filtered these guitars in to their most popular styles: Ibanez Electric guitars (RG, S, AR, FR, Gio etc), Acoustic, Hollowbody Artcore series and their Electro Acoustic range.

Gibson vs Ibanez – 1977

When electric guitars first appeared in the 60’s Ibanez were one of several companies making “copies” of the most successful American guitars from leading brands like Gibson, Fender and Rickenbacker. Unfortunately – this didn’t end too well with Gibson taking Ibanez to court in 1977 ending in an out of court settlement in 1978. After the lawsuit period Hoshino Gakki introduced Ibanez models that were not copies – making a name for their own designs like the Iceman and Roadster.

Nowadays they are best known for the shred-friendly electric guitar models such as the Ibanez RG or S-Series and the VC50NJP and V50NJP from their acoustic range
