C. F. Martin & Co is a world renowned manufacturer of acoustic and electro acoustic guitars. They are one of the world’s oldest guitar manufacturers – first established in 1833. Acoustic guitars owe many of their “standard” features to these instrument innovators including the dreadnought shape, the 14th-fret neck joint, and X frame bracing.

Martin guitars were strummed by music’s original superstars – innovators like Jimmie Rodgers and Gene Autry. They have graced the stages at Woodstock and the famous MTV Unplugged concerts. Their list of artists is as impressive as Fender and Gibson with legends like Hank Williams, Bob Dylan, Dave Gilmour, Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Neil Young, Ed Sheeran and many more all playing a Martin guitar.

Ed’s Favourite – the LX1E Little Martin

Ed Sheeran has been a long time Martin fan – he regularly played the Martin LX1E Little Martin Electro Acoustic. A true powerhouse that, despite its small size, produces a bold, volume rich tone. It’s far more than just a basic travel guitar.

Everything from the Martin Backpacker to the Martin D-45

Their range is huge, starting around £299 (Martin Backpacker) up to £8,700 (Martin D-45). As with other bands it’s worth checking the price of a specific model before buying a pre-owned model. We’ve seen a used Martin 00-28 sold for £200 MORE than the price of a new one, likewise, a Martin D-10E Dreadnought sold for over £1000? when a new one costs under £900.
