There are some brand names that are known around the world – Yamaha is certainly one. For me it’s more a two wheel manufacturer than a global guitar brand. The truth is – Yamaha have been making musical instruments since 1887.

The brand with those famous Tuning Forks

We all recognise the logo – look closely and you’ll see it’s made up of 3 tuning forks. Yamaha entered the guitar market in 1966. The FG-80 was their first offering, a Folk Guitar made in Japan. This was quickly followed by the Yamaha SG-7 (electric 6 string) and the SB-2, their first electric Bass guitar.

Today Yamaha produce some of the finest instruments money can buy. There is a Yamaha instrument for all levels of musician at all budgets. Entry level acoustic guitars from under £100 to Yamaha SG120 electric guitars at over £2,000. Most popular are the Yamaha Pacifica electric guitar series and the Yamaha C40 classical acoustic. For musicians looking for the best of both worlds they have a fabulous range of electro acoustic guitars. At the entry level is the Yamaha APXT2 (around £200) and goes beyond £650 with the Yamaha APX700
